Frequently asked questions
Does Microsoft Office work?
LibreOffice (free, pre-installed) opens and saves Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. For full compatibility, Microsoft 365 is available in the browser.
Do I have to use the terminal?
No. KDE Plasma has a graphical interface for everything - just like Windows. The terminal is there for those who want it, but is never required for everyday use.
Can I play games?
Yes! Steam has over 12,000 Linux-compatible titles via Proton. Most popular games work great. Desktop Gamer also comes with Windows on a separate disc for those games that don't yet have Linux support.
How difficult is it to switch from Windows?
Most people barely notice the difference in everyday use. The start menu, file manager and settings work as you're used to. And we're here if you get stuck.
Can I get Linux on my old computer instead?
Yes. We offer PC conversion as a service - you send your computer to us and get it back fully configured. Good for the environment and your wallet.

Encryption
All computers come with full disc encryption via dm-crypt. This means that all files are automatically encrypted and no one can access them without your password - even if the hard drive is removed from the computer.
