Processor manufacturer AMD, whose technology is used exclusively in the Teuton Systems PC series, is getting even more attention in the open source community after Linux founder Linus Torvalds announced that he is switching from Intel to AMD.
Torvalds recently announced that he is upgrading his personal computer and replacing his Intel processor with an AMD processor. Torvalds is making the switch after 15 years with rival Intel.
The announcement came in connection with the launch of a preview version of Linux 5.7 called 5.7 rc7. Torvald's new AMD processor is none other than the Threadripper 3970x with a full 32 cores and 64 threads.
Torvalds says the new processor compiles cores at a speed three times faster than his previous Intel processor.
Threadripper is a more powerful processor series and is planned to be introduced in future models of the TS PC series for more demanding applications.
Teuton Systems of course welcomes Torvald's move to the red team!
